Support window

The Support window brings together everything you need to ask for help, update the application and manage the device's license. It opens in three ways:

  • With the support button in the upper right corner of the main menu (see Main menu).
  • With the support button that appears for a few seconds when an activity opens.
  • By tapping the "Help (Field Manager)" icon from the Android launcher, without opening the application. This is the way to use when the application won't start.

At the top, the window shows the two details support staff always ask for: the installed Version: and the Support code:, which identifies the device. Both can be selected and copied.

What each button does

  • See manuals and video tutorials: downloads the manual as a PDF from the Field Manager server and opens it with the device's browser. It asks for the installed version and the language set on the device; if there is no manual in that language yet, the server serves one that does exist.
  • Check for updates: checks whether a newer version is available and offers to download and install it.
  • Report a bug in the app: opens WhatsApp with a message already prepared that includes the device's support code. What is worth telling us when reporting is in When none of this is enough.
  • Copy support code: copies the code to the clipboard, to paste it into an email or a message.
  • See license terms and conditions: shows the contract accepted when the device was activated.
  • Clear preferences: returns the application's settings to their factory values (see Preferences window). It does not touch the projects or the surveyed data.
  • Add subscription: activates an additional subscription on the same device, without removing the one it already has. The two coexist and the device ends up enabled with the sum of what each one includes.
  • Remove all subscriptions: deletes the subscriptions stored on this device. The subscription does not return to the web portal on its own: to use it on another device you have to release it from there (see Transfer the license to another device).
  • Run Field Manager: opens the application and closes the window. It is the natural way out when you came in from the "Help (Field Manager)" icon.

You've read enough. Try it with your own project.
